Forty-one first-year students from Muhoroni have received bursaries worth Ksh1.2 million from the sub-county’s National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) kitty.

Speaking during presentation of the cheques, the NG-CDF Manager Sospeter Ngere – on behalf of area MP Onyango K’Oyoo – said that each student had been allocated Ksh30,000.

Ngere said that the beneficiaries, who constitute the 10th cohort, were selected after a thorough vetting process to ensure they were the most deserving.

While handing over the cheques at Nyangoma/Masogo ward, he said that the money had already reached the respective learning institutions.

He urged beneficiaries to ensure they said they excel in their studies as they will be tracking their performance.

Ngere disclosed that plans were underway to construct Muhoroni Technical Training Institute (TTI) at a cost of Ksh80 million.

The added that a medical training college and a middle-level college will also be constructed in the area to cater for students who do not qualify to join universities.

Also present at the function was Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Muhoroni branch chairman George Ombok.
