1,200 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers in Kiambu county have received their appointment letters for permanent and pensionable terms from Kiambu county government.

The ceremony which was presided by Governor James Nyoro at the county government headquarters, was attended by the Chairman of the County Public Service Board Allan Mwaura, Secretary of the Board Martin Njeri, Education CECM Mary Kamau, Public Service and Administration CECM Margaret Ruinge, Education Chief Officer George Thuku, Chief of Staff Gibson Mburu, Chief Officers Njuguna Gikonyo and Irene Munyua among other leaders and county staff.

Esther Ndungu, a teacher, said that the appointment letters will motivate the teachers in their duties.

“As ECDE teachers we pledge to give our very best in propelling the county forward. It is primarily through us that we can make Vision 2030 a reality. We promise to be 100% competency based curriculum (CBC) compliant so that we can equip learners with competencies necessary in coping with the new demands,” said Ndungu.

Governor Nyoro said his government has started appreciating the teachers since they have never been absorbed.

“Your appointment is only the beginning. We are going to look into your welfare. In the next budget the teachers will get NHIF covers as now you are Kiambu county government workers,” said Nyoro.
