Workshop targeting improvement in core subjects organized in West Pokot

Teachers go through an activity using their phones as the workshop heated up.

A workshop targeting improvement in Mathematics, Science and English subjects in schools was organized in West Pokot aimed at equipping teachers with knowledge, skills and right attitudes towards the subjects.

Teachers were urged to embrace ICT so as to be familiar with socio-economic and education matters in the county.

“I urge you teachers to embrace ICT and avoid technophobia while at your stations,” said Robert Mawathe from TSC headquarters, who is also in charge of teachers’ professional management.

Paul Waibochi, representative and senior officer from CEMASTEA, said their mission is to build teachers’ capacities especially in Mathematics and Sciences, asking teachers to cultivate a positive attitude towards these subjects.

West Pokot Deputy County Director Joseph Musyoka praised the teachers for turning up in large numbers and urged then to be good ambassadors in their various stations.

Other senior officials at the workshop included James Lochomil from KNEC and a host of CSOs from various stations.

Teachers who attended came from Sook, Riwo, Chemwochoi, Siyoi, Mnagei, Kishaunet and Kanyarkwat zones.

Many teachers in attendance confirmed that the workshop once again was a major boost in the improvement of Science, Mathematics and English.
