“In Wajir County, you will see an entire primary school with only three teachers. That’s the main cause of our children getting low grades,” he regretted.

He promised to introduce a bill in parliament on salary increments for teachers so that the profession can attract the students who are through with Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

Wajir saw an exodus of teachers wanting out of the county back in 2020, after an attack staged by Al –Shabab militants which resulted to killing of three teachers in Qarsa, Wajir East Constituency in February 2020.
