Women leaders in Machakos County urged to provide sanitary towels for candidates

Women leaders in Machakos County have been called upon to provide sanitary towels to students who will be taking their national exams this year in the region.

A nominated MCA from the Wiper party, Irene Mulu expressed concern for students who face challenges during their menstrual periods.

She emphasized the need for teachers and parents to allow these students adequate time to prepare for their upcoming exams.

“When a girl lacks access to sanitary towels, it not only affects her physically but also emotionally, as she often grapples with the stigma associated with this issue, especially within the school environment,” Mulu stressed.

She also stated that parents should refrain from overburdening their children with household chores, and teachers should avoid sending students home for fee balances.

“If any outstanding fees exist, these should be settled after the exams when the results are being collected,” the MCA noted.

Additionally, she advised candidates to steer clear of negative influences that could impact their performance further urging them to use the remaining time wisely, focusing on their studies and making choices that safeguard their academic futures.
