Kisii County Woman Representative Doris Aburi has asked the youth to enroll for Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) programmes to enable them get an edge over their peers as technology advances worldwide.
While speaking to new registrants at the Gender Based Violence and Rehabilitation Centre in Kisii town on Tuesday, the MP was assured that her office is always open to help youth willing to embrace studies at any level.
“My office is there to empower the youth so they grow economically but they must demonstrate the passion and willingness to learn,” she said.

Aburi revealed that her office in collaboration with the Huawei Company has opened the second tier registration of 100 students to undergo a one-month training at the centre.
“Due to the high demand and rising number of learners in the county, my office has decided to extend the training to all who are willing,” she said.
The Woman MP told the youth to use the acquired ICT knowledge constructively instead of indulging in immoral behavior and propaganda on social media platforms.
She appealed to parents to instruct their children to get in touch with her office to enable them secure admission since it is based on a first come first served basis.
Aburi, who is a former Radio Presenter, asked the youth to avoid bad company, drug abuse and other vices because they are bound to ruin their character and reputation.
“This country looks for people of integrity for service and employment. You must struggle to refine your character to suit those few competitive slots.” she advised.
Saying that knowledge is power, the Woman Representative hinted of collaborating with Chiefs, Ward representatives and sub county Commissioners to establish youth empowerment centres in every constituency in the county.
