A woman has called on Kajiado County Governor Joseph ole Lenku to come to her rescue after failing to secure bursaries for her children
Ann Wanjiku claims she has never been considered in getting County and National governments’ bursaries in Kajiado West Constituency and Keekonyokie Ward even after applying every year.
The single mother, who was born and raised in Kiserian is employed in a saloon shop in Kiserian, says she has been applying for bursaries in the constituency level and county level but is yet to benefit.
In an interview with Education News, she said her daughter who is studying nursing in Mwea Nursing School has been unable to raise fee.
During Ushirika Day, the woman sought audience with the governor but was unable to reach him. Her daughter has been at home after she failed fees arrears amounting to Sh150,000.
“I took a loan the first time but am not able this time since I don’t have security, I would appreciate even scholarship from well-wishers ” she said. Her two children who are students in a secondary school in the constituency have also not been able to pay school fees. She fears her children will drop out of school if she will not get help.
She wants the governor to enforce strict vetting exercise to ensure all children from poor background benefit from bursaries.
