Winners of STEM subjects virtual tests to get scholarships

The Kenya National Interswitch Spark 2021 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subject competition is being held virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

A total of 1479 students, 50 of them from Migori County are currently participating in the competition focused on strengthening their performance in the STEM subjects.

The winner will be awarded a university scholarship worth Sh1.5 million, a six years stipend for upkeep and a laptop.

Number two will get a Sh750,000 scholarship, upkeep for three years and a laptop while the third student will a Sh150,000 scholarship, one year stipend and a laptop.

Among the schools which participated in the exam competition are Kanga, St. Joseph’s school Rapogi and St. Albert’s Ulanda Girls high school from Migori County.

Kanga High School Chief Principal  Mr. Reuben Kodiango stressed on the need of encouraging and supporting students to take part in such events.

“It helps them strengthen their prowess in science related subjects like biology, physics, mathematics, chemistry, computer studies and others tested in the Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education,” he said.
