The West Pokot County Governor Simon Kachapin has received the much-awaited Taskforce Report on the establishment of the proposed Kapenguria University College, setting the stage for its launch.
The taskforce formed three months ago and brought together experts, stakeholders, and community leaders, was tasked with determining whether a public university college is feasible, where it should be located, and how it should be structured.
After intensed consultations, thorough research, and deep analysis. Today, their recommendations mark a key step toward realizing a public university college in West Pokot—a step that signals hope, progress, and a new chapter for the county.
One of the most significant outcomes of the taskforce’s work is the selection of Keringet as the preferred starting location. This is not a random choice—it is a strategic decision rooted in accessibility, potential, and long-term growth. “Keringet is centrally located, making it reachable to students from all parts of the county. It is also an area that can support expansion and development, offering a conducive environment for learning and innovation.” Report reads
