Teachers in West Pokot County have been urged to be at the forefront in environmental conservation.
TSC Deputy Director Paul Kamas speaking during the thanks giving and retirement ceremony of Rosemary Chelang’a the immediate HOI Lokna Comprehensive School, said that teachers should make sure their surrounding is green and rewarding.
“Since you come from the villages, it is paramount to you to ensure that your home and the neighborhood is green,” Said Kamas
Kamas was impressed by the beautiful compound of Madam Chelang’a which was full of indigenous trees and flowers.
“Teachers are role models in school and in the society, hence you should encourage the learners and their parents to have the spirit of planting trees every year at school and at their respective homes,” he said
Kamas also congratulated Madam Rosemary Chelang’a for having a clean record in her file since she started working until her retirement.
“I urge you teachers to maintain professionalism while on duty as madam Chelang’a did,” he said.
The TSC Deputy Director further urged the teachers to invest so as to enjoy their retirement period.

The event was also attended by Joseh Rusii the assistant Executive Secretary West Pokot County who represented Martin Enriko Sembelo the Executive Secretary KNUT West Pokot County.
Rusii also congratulated Madam Chelang’a for her Sterling Performance while she was on duty, also called for a peacefull polls which is due course.
“The KNUT General Elections will be held early 2026 so colleague teachers I urge you to conduct peaceful and friendly campaigns,” Rusii said.
“Retirement is not bad and should not stress anybody so long as you organize yourself,” said Jacob Lorema popularly known as Jp 15 the 1st Mp in West Pokot County.
As it was a big ceremony and a get together party, Madam Rosemary Chelang’a’s retirement ceremony brought together relatives and family members from Embu, Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot Counties
