Teachers in West Pokot are in mourning following the sudden death of a head teacher who was serving in Mnagei Ward.
The late Florence was born on January 6, 1969, and is an alumnus of St. Theresa’s Tartar National School.
According to Francis Opicho, Chairman of the Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA) for the Mnagei Zone, she passed away yesterday at Cherangany Nursing Home in Kitale after long illness.
She has been the head of Kangulikwan Comprehensive School in Mnagei Ward for over five years, following her transfer from Mokongwo School, where she was promoted. She had earlier taught at Karas Primary for many years.

Opicho has described her as a very resourceful administrator and said that the family is meeting to set the date for her burial.
Having taught for over 30 years, the late Florence has had invaluable experience in teaching learners.
“She taught me, the knowledge I am using as an administrator emanates from her; the county has greatly lost one of the best icons in education circles,” said Timothy Kendagor, currently working as the head of one of the institutions in West Pokot.
“She had mastered all the subject content and would perfectly teach without referring to any source, but the knowledge she offered was in complete harmony with the school textbooks, ” he added.
West Pokot KNUT Executive Secretary, Martin Sembelo, hailed the late teacher as an exceptional teacher and administrator who had a great passion for her work.
