West Pokot schools raise funds to support Red Cross initiatives

Primary and secondary schools under the Red Cross Society of Kenya West Pokot chapter held a walk to raise funds to support the less fortunate in the society and create awareness on the importance of assisting victims of calamities.

The event themed ‘Power of Humanity’ started at Makutano Stadium which was the converging point all the way to Bendera junction and back to the stadium.

The function kicked off with entertainment from Sunflower Junior Academy and Karas Primary School which kept the audience upbeat throughout the day.

The schools had earlier participated in raising funds from various quarters and the climax was the presentation of collected monies on the material day.

Schools which contributed the most were feted and were awarded with trophies and certificates.

The presentation of gifts was done by West Pokot County Governor Simon Kachapin, who was the Chief Guest.

Among the top schools awarded were Nasokol Girls Secondary School and St. Marys Assumption Primary School.
