West Pokot ECDE teachers to get confirmation letters today

Governor Simon Kachapin of West Pokot County. Today he is giving ECDE teachers letters confirming them on permanent and pensionable terms. Most of them have been working as volunteers.

West Pokot ECDE teachers are a happy lot after the county government gave notice to confirm their employment on permanent and pensionable terms today.

An internal memo dated July 26, signed by County Director of ECDE Joseph Tonyirwo announced that the Department of Education & Technical Training will issue employment letters to ECDE teachers and Ward coordinators.

The event will be held at the county headquarters on Wednesday, July 31, starting at 8:30 am, and will be attended by Governor Simon Kitalel Kachapin.

“The Department of Education & Technical Training has organized for the issuance of Employment letters to the ECDE teachers and ECDE Ward Coordinators that will be graced by the Governor of West Pokot County His Excellency Hon. Simon Kitalel Kachapin, EGH at the county headquarters in the Governors’ Official Residence, Kapenguria,” read the circular.

A total of 1,660 ECDE teachers have been working voluntarily in various centres across the county. Of these, 1,092 will receive confirmation letters, securing their positions on permanent and pensionable terms. The remaining 568 teachers will be placed on contract terms, with the possibility of future confirmation.
