The West Pokot County School Based Teacher Support System (SBTSS) held its annual seminar at Nasokol Girls High School from February 24 to February 26, 2022.
Both teachers from primary and secondary schools were in attendance.
The subjects that were highlighted were Maths and Science in primary schools, and Chemistry, Physics and Biology in secondary schools.
During the seminar, the 5Es were greatly emphasized for the benefit of the learner. They are Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate. These processes fully ensure that the lesson is learner-centered because learners fully participate in the lesson. The workshop was facilitated by teacher champions together with CEMASTEA.
The exercise ran concurrently across all the sub-counties and monitored by Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs).
“I am greatly rejuvenated and energized in the teaching of Mathematics and Science,” said Mr. Meshack Kirwa, one of the teachers who attended the seminar.
The five-day seminar was officially opened by Mr. Bernard Kimachas, the TSC West Pokot County Director and officially closed by Mr. David Mogaka, the West Pokot TSC Deputy Director.
