Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) David Njengere has said plans for administering 2023 national examinations are complete.

A total of 2.3 million learners will sit for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

According to Njengere, around 1, 415, 315 candidates will sit for KCPE exam, while another 903, 260 will take the KCSE test.

Furthermore, preparations have also been made for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for 1, 282, 574 Grade Six Learners.

KCPE and KPSEA tests are scheduled to take place from October 30 to November 2 while the KCSE examination will be held from November 3 to November 24.

Dr. Njengere made these remarks during the opening of the 39th Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA) conference held at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi on Wednesday.

The AEAA conference brings together examination bodies from 21 countries in Africa under President Aregan with more than 500 delegates, including 400 foreign delegates in attendance.

This year’s conference theme is “Educational assessment for nurturing every learner’s potential” which the executive committee said resonates with major reforms by many member countries to align their education system.
