Zetech University has invested heavily in Information Technology (IT) programmes to fix the skill gaps in the job market as an enabler of job creation.

Zetech Vice Chancellor Prof Njenga Munene said that the world has embraced technology and organizations are in constant demand of a tech-savvy workforce that adds value to the market.

“Individuals and companies must keep up with technological disruptions, trends, problems and opportunities to make better and sustainable career, commercial and institutional decisions,” he said.

He spoke on the sidelines of the varsity’s seventh graduation ceremony in Mang’u, Juja Sub-county.

He referred to a recent report compiled by Google and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) which shows that of the estimated 690,000 software developers in Africa, approximately 60,000 are from Kenya.

The VC pointed out that this means Kenya accounts for about 9 per cent of the software developers on the continent on fifth place, as South Africa tops with 120,000.
