UoN excluded as government publishes list of institutions to offer Masters of Law

The Council of Legal Education, in a notice carried by local dailies on Tuesday July 9, 2024, published the names of universities cleared to offer law courses within the Kenyan boundaries.

Only four institutions have been authorized to offer master’s programmes, with the University of Nairobi notably excluded from the list.

Kenyatta University has applied for a license or renewal thereof to offer a Master of Laws (LLM) programme.

The universities authorized to offer Master of Laws programmes include Strathmore, Mount Kenya University, Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology.

The Council also released the names of schools approved to offer Bachelor’s and Diploma programmes in Law.

The schools authorized to offer the Bachelor of Laws Programme are Africa Nazarene University, Chuka University, Moi University and University of Nairobi.

Other institutions that have been authorized to offer the Bachelor of Laws Programme include Egerton, Kabarak, Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) and Strathmore.

Institutions authorized to offer the Diploma of Law programme include Kenya Institute of Management, CUEA, Mount Kenya University, Kisii University and Kenya School of Law.
