Taita Taveta County KNUT secretary Rosalia Mkanjala has called on the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to deploy more teachers to the county address a shortage of teachers in the area.
Mkanjala said there was a severe shortage of teachers leading to poor performance by the students.
She revealed that primary schools in the county had a shortage of 253 teachers while secondary schools had 413.
