The County Government of Isiolo has received Sh108 million from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to upgrade Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) institutions.
Isiolo County Governor Mohamed Kuti, during the launch of a project at Wabera Primary School said that the donation will be used to improve all ECDE institutions within the county.
“Through this project, the institutions will benefit with modern classrooms and adequate furniture. In addition, the pupils will be provided with clean water to ensure no water- borne diseases are contracted,” said Kuti.
He also allotted toys, modern water cans and portable desks to the ECDE pupils.
He warned politicians against politicizing every activity by the County Government and instead help the people of Isiolo. Recently, some leaders claimed that partnering with Non-Governmental organisations would be placing citizens in the hands of private companies.
Josephine Eregai, Isiolo County Executive Committee Member for Education, Sports, Youth, Culture, Gender and Social service said 20 more ECDE classrooms would be constructed to add to the 20 that were put up last year.
