President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Kenyans to maintain peace during this electioneering period in order to boost economic of the country by maintaining investors in the country.
The president said it is only through peace that business and investment can be productive and provide more profits to business people and investors.
Speaking in Nakuru City on Wednesday during the official opening of Nakuru-Kisumu Railways Uhuru reminded Kenyans that elections will come and go but conducive peaceful environment will allow investors and other business people to continue with their activities in the Kenya.
“As we remain brothers and sisters we should learn to maintain peace in all parts of the country to save Kenyans and foreign investors who are watching us keenly to see the situation”, the president said.
The head of state added that through peace Kenyans will unite, cooperated and continue with their daily economic activities which will improve their economic status.
He reminded Kenyans that without peace, development projects will not be initiated.
He commended Nakuru residents for being hardworking citizens that have led to quick growth of Nakuru city.
Speaking in the same function Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia praise Uhuru for improving infrastructural development in all parts of the country which have boosted economic growth.
“Through your noble leadership we have witnessed the infrastructural growth in roads, railways and air transport which have boosted business activities”, said Macharia,
He added that the government’s rail line (217Kms) from Nakuru to Kisumu is now operative, it has contributed to easy transportation of people and goods from Mombasa, Nairobi and Kisumu.
On his part Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui urged residents of Nakuru to use the availability good transport network in boosting their businesses.
“We have a railway, airport and good road network, let us use this opportunity to boost our businesses, this will improve our economic status in this county,” the governor said
