President Uhuru Kenyatta has fulfilled the promise he gave to world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge by donating Sh 100 million towards the construction of a community library and the refurbishment of Kapsisiywa Primary School in Nandi County.

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha who delivered the cheque to Kipchoge at Kapsisiywa said that President gave the money for the library that befits Kipchoge’s status.
“We are also going to redesign the school. We want the library that befits our national champion whom we are all proud of,” he said.

Kenyatta is expected to visit the school where Kipchoge studied personally to commission the construction of the library within the next six months.

Prof Magoha said the President agreed to Kipchoge’s request that the school complex and the new library be built in his village and sent him to deliver the cheque.

Kipchoge, who a few months ago made history in Vienna, Austria, by winning a marathon in under two hours thanked the president for delivering his promise.
