The Uasin Gishu County is set to host the 5th Edition of the Guidance and Counselling Teachers’ National Forum and Excellence Awards.

The Uasin Gishu County is set to host the 5th Edition of the Guidance and Counselling Teachers’ National Forum and Excellence Awards, a forum which is expected to bring together guidance and counselling teachers and school counsellors from across the country for professional development and recognition of outstanding counselling services in schools.

This comes after the Association of Professional Guidance and Counselling Teachers – Kenya (APGCT-K), in partnership with Royal Minds Educational and Counselling Consultants (ROMECC) announced the actual date and venue.

The national event will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at AIC Chebisaas in Eldoret from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In a circular addressed to school principals through the County Director of Education in Uasin Gishu County, APGCT-K called on schools to facilitate the participation of their guidance and counselling staff in the forum.

According to the organizers, the event aims to provide a professional platform for counsellors to enhance their skills through sessions led by experienced practitioners, participate in interactive discussions and peer learning and recognize excellence in promoting learner wellbeing, character development, resilience and holistic growth during the Excellence Awards ceremony.

The forum comes at a time when schools continue to face growing challenges related to student mental health, discipline and overall learner wellbeing.

The organisers noted that strengthening counselling services within schools is essential in creating supportive learning environments and improving student outcomes.

Participation in the forum will cost Ksh 2,500 per attendee, with participants required to observe a red-tie dress code, reflecting the formal nature of the occasion.

They expressed confidence that the forum will provide an important opportunity for professional networking, knowledge exchange, and recognition of best practices in guidance and counselling across Kenyan schools.
