The Uasin Gishu County government has launched a high-nutrition uji programme to boost the Early Childhood Developmet Education, ECDE learning and enrollment.
The exercise spearheaded by Governor Jonathan Bii, will complement the county’s school milk programme—served every Tuesday and Thursday, which has helped increase ECDE enrollment from 40,000 to 52,000 learners.
Bii, speaking during the launch at Legetet ECDE in Megun Ward said that the County has confirmed over 1,466 ECDE educators on permanent and pensionable terms, ensuring a committed workforce for the youngest learners.

“Nutrition is the foundation of learning,” Governor Bii said, “and through programs like milk and Uji, we are nurturing healthy, smart, and confident children who can reach their full potential.”
The move highlights Uasin Gishu’s holistic approach to education—where learners are not only enrolled in school but also supported with proper nutrition and quality learning environments.
