Uasin Gishu CDE warns principals sending students home for fees

Uasin Gishu Director of Education John Thiringi

The Director of Education of Uasin Gishu John Thiringi, has issued a stern warning to school Principals on discouraging them from sending students home due to unpaid fees.

He urged them to instead engage in dialogue with parents to find alternative payment solutions.

Thiringi further emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable students, particularly girls, from potential exploitation if sent home.

He advocated for creative solutions, suggesting that parents could contribute items such as goats or firewood in lieu of cash to cover their children’s fees.

Furthermore, Thiringi cautioned school principals against organizing social activities during the third term, stating that it is illegal.

Additionally, he asserted that events like prayer days and academic trips are strictly prohibited during this period.

The Director emphasized that those who defy this directive would face legal consequences.
