Two Principals from Kenyenya Sub-county in Bomachoge Borabu, Kisii County have threatened to either resign from their positions or be transferred from their stations unless the Ministry of Education (MoE) helps them to improve the infrastructure in their schools.

Speaking to Education News at his Randani Secondary School the Principal Ronald Sosi blamed the parents for their carefree attitude to nurture the school.

“How can parents bring children to school without even paying a single cent for the upkeep of their children and some transfer their children from here and expect me to increase the enrolment and produce the results?” wondered the Principal.

He cited dilapidated state of classrooms, lack of laboratory and library rooms and shortage of teachers to assist in the growth of the school.

The Principal said that school is situated between two clans of Bombaba and Bokion. Thus the two clans are unsure who should carry the onus of developing the school.

He said that the school has never received any funding from the NG-CDF and appealed to the area MP Obadiah Barongo to intervene and salvage the school from collapsing.

A close check by Education News revealed leaking roofs from both latrines and classrooms with few students in the compound as teachers continued with their daily routines in a makeshift staff room.

Writings on the wall indicated that the school received funding from the NG-CDF about ten years for the completion of a stalled administration block.
