Two students from Kisii High School are in police custody after they were found in possession of bhang rolls during school reopening.
The students were taken to Kisii Central Police Station to record their statements and should be taken to court.
The school principal Mr. Fred Mogaka said that after consultation with the staff at the school, he resorted to use police sniffer dogs to tame indiscipline in school.
“We decided to give it a trial which yielded some fruits as it unfolded more tips for us to act upon in future “asserted the principal.
He further revealed that he sought the help of the police who agreed to keep a sniffer dog in his office.
Asked how he manages to isolate bad students from others, Mogaka replied that there are many ways to cook an egg.
He added that he mingles freely with students as he studies their minds and intentions.
He further revealed that he vowed to protect the good boys in the school from the wayward ones.
One of the police officers from Kisii Police station said that the sniffer dog was used to search the boys’ boxes at the school gate.
In one of the students’ boxes, the sniffer police dog found 20 rolls of bhang wrapped in a chemist medicine wrapper. Another student’s box had 15 rolls of the stuff wrapped in an emptied teabag.
This incident comes barely two years after more than 14 KCSE candidates from Kenyoro Secondary school in Marani Sub county were found smoking bhang in the school compound.
The suspects were suspended from schools and made to take their remaining KCSE exams from home.
The then Kisii County Commissioner Mr. Leornard Mgute ordered more security officers to be deployed to the school to guard it against hooliganism.
