Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of Robert Kingoo, a senior teacher at Mekameni Primary School in Lunga-Lunga sub-county, Kwale county.

According to area OCPD, Francis Mwangi, the suspects are in custody and assisting with the investigation.

“We have arrested two suspects, and more will be apprehended soon,” said Mwangi.

The late Kingoo was attacked last Tuesday by unknown assailants and hacked to death with a sharp object while walking home at around 7:30 pm.

Mwangi called for calm and patience as investigations continue, assuring the family that justice will prevail.

While urging the police to expedite the investigations, Kingoo’s wife, Doreen Sidi Robert described her husband’s death as difficult to come to terms with.

She expressed deep concern for her four children’s future, fearing that their well-being is at risk following the loss of the family’s breadwinner.

Doreen called on the government’s intervention to help with her children’s education.

A relative, Ann Mutua, called on investigative agencies to ensure that the culprits are brought to book.

“We still can’t believe our uncle is gone; this has left an enormous gap in our family,” she added.

Mikameni Primary School Deputy Head teacher, Kalume Chirau, condemned the brutal killing and raised concerns about teachers’ safety in the area.

He noted that since the incident, local teachers have been working in fear of potential attacks.

According to Chirau, Kingoo was a friendly and well-liked colleague with no known conflicts, making his murder deeply troubling.

“We are concerned that teachers might be targeted. As far as we know, Kingoo never had an issue with anyone,” he said.

The area village elder, Benson Ndula, said the incident has sent shockwaves through the community.

Ndula noted that cases of reckless killings by hired attackers are increasing in the area, often linked to allegations of witchcraft or love triangles.

“There are certain individuals suspected to be hired mercenaries who carry out these killings. I urge the government to investigate this matter thoroughly and put an end to these rogue groups,” he said.
