A retired college principal has won a global education award, thrusting the country yet again into the academic limelight.

Dr. Daniel Mutai, formerly of Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology in Nakuru City, was recognized by the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) for his world class community and institutional leadership.

He scooped a Bronze medal from among 700 participants who made entries for the Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion Award, behind Dr Jane Ngobia of Canada and Ms Dawn Ward of the United Kingdom, who won Silver and Gold respectively.

“This is an honour to education leaders who believe in integrity and equity,” said Dr. Mutai, dedicating the accolade to all TVET managers who are focused on providing credible leadership in their institutions.

Dr. Mutai retired from active service in February. Competitors for this award were drawn from 50 countries.
