TVET registrars challenged to market their colleges to tap more students

By Peter Otuoro

Peter Cheruiyot, Rift Valley County Director for Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) institutes, has urged registrars of TVET institutions to market their institution in order to increase the enrolment of students.

Cheruiyot, who is the TVET director of Nakuru, Bomet, Baringo and Kericho counties, pointed out that TVETs have low enrolment numbers because of inadequate marketing by the registrars.

Speaking during a five day registrars training in Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST), Cheruiyot added that if the public  are well informed  about the importance of taking technical courses in TVETs, they will enroll for the same.

“TVET administrators should take advantage of marketing strategies to increase enrolment in their schools,” he added.

He added that many class eight and form four leavers can continue their education in TVETs and be dependable citizens after giving the relevant technical skills.

He encouraged the registrars to use the knowledge from their training to boost the images of their respective TVET institutions.

“Use the skills and knowledge you acquire here to build the image of your TVET institutions”, said Cheruiyot, adding that a well-built image of an institution attracts a lot of students and trainers.
