TVET graduates advised to join organized groups to enjoy sponsorships

MSEA Director of Infrastructure Development, Technology and Innovation Edward Karani speaking during the graduation ceremony. He encouraged young people to build trust by being honest people.

Students graduating from TVET institutions have been advised to ensure that they join registered groups in order to benefit financially from sponsors.

They were also urged to form their own groups and register them so that they can get assistance from the government and the private sector.

Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) Director for Infrastructure Development, Technology and Innovation Engineer Edward Karani said the government and the private sector can only financially assist registered groups and not individuals.

Speaking at Madaraka Primary School in Buuri Constituency during the graduation ceremony of 750 students of Ujuuzi Mashinani, Karani said they have so far financially supported several registered groups in the area to start income generating projects.

“I urge graduands to join registered groups in order to benefit financially. The government and the private sector can only financially assist registered groups to start income generating projects. Before assisting you we must know where you come from, what you are capable of doing and your needs. We have assisted many registered groups in the constituency so far,” said Karani.

He called on graduands to be genuine, reliable and trustworthy while performing their duties because many skilled labour workers are regarded as liars.

Engineer Karani shows some of the machines they will donate to registered groups, asking youth to join those groups to benefit from such initiatives.

He regretted that many are involved in drug and alcohol abuse while others steal machines and equipment from their clients and work stations.

He assured the graduands that many  job opportunities are available as long as they remain honest and trustworthy while performing their duties.

Karani said before getting employment one must be referred by somebody else who knows their character well.

He advised graduands to join a business community or get employment in Kenya or in the diaspora after graduation.
