The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (TVET CDACC) will release the July/August 2025 Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) assessment results in an event to be held at the Nairobi National Polytechnic.
The event which will bring together government officials, trainers and representatives from TVET institutions across the country, will be officiated by Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba.
The CBET assessments are part of the government’s broader effort to align technical training with industry needs through a practical and skills-based approach. Unlike traditional examinations, CBET focuses on demonstrating specific competencies through written tests, projects, role plays and portfolios.
Successful candidates are evaluated on their ability to perform real-world tasks, making the system more responsive to Kenya’s growing demand for skilled labour.
This shift from theory-based to performance-based assessment aims to ensure trainees graduate with skills directly applicable in the job market.
TVET CDACC, the national body responsible for developing curricula, assessments and certifications for TVET institutions, has been central in implementing this framework. So far, the council has developed over 400 occupational standards and corresponding curricula in collaboration with industry partners.

These standards define the exact skills and knowledge needed for different professions, ensuring that training programs remain relevant and up to date. They also help employers understand the competencies of graduates entering the workforce.
The council administers several assessment series each year, including the March/April and July/August session.
During the March/April 2025 assessment series, 87,904 trainees were certified after meeting the competency requirements. This reflected a growing trend in the adoption of CBET across Kenyan TVET institutions and showed the government’s success in expanding skill-based learning nationwide.
TVET CDACC reports that more than 12,500 trainers and assessors have also been trained to effectively deliver and evaluate CBET programs. This ongoing capacity-building demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving the quality and credibility of technical training.
The release of the July/August 2025 CBET results marks another milestone in professionalizing technical education and enhancing workforce readiness. Results will be accessible through the TVET CDACC online portal, where institutions and candidates can view their performance.
