Technical Training Institutes, (TTIs) have been urged to heavily invest in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) training to curb the rampant youths unemployment in the country.

Speaking at Bondo TTI when he presided over the awards of certificates to hundreds of youths drawn from Siaya County who had successfully completed training in film production, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga underscored the relevance of AI technology training for the youths in Colleges to address job shortages in Kenya.

Odinga urged the government to invest substantially in training the Kenyan youths on Artificial Intelligence observing that it has the potential to bridge the ever widening gap of joblessness that is posing security threats to the nation.

Raila said the youth will be in high demand in the world’s job market if they are equipped with AI skills.

“AI technology is the real deal today, it is helping people create wealth. The government ought to train our young people on such skills since they will be on high demand around the world,” stated Odinga.

For the former premier, AI is not only going to be pivotal in creating wealth for the Country but it’s going to enable Kenya catch up with the developed nations.

“Africa is currently experiencing youth implosion with 75 per cent of its population being below the age 35. This situation can either be a curse or a blessing depending on how the youthful population is handled,” he warned, adding that if the youth are given requisite skills and have knowledge, then they become motivated for development.

The training was a courtesy of the sponsorship from the office of the Senator Siaya County Dr.Oburu Oginga and the Kenya Film Cooperation. It was conducted at the Siaya Community Hub in Bondo town.
