Long serving Teachers Service Commission (TSC) West Pokot County Director Bernard Kimachas has officially retired from service.
In respect of the exemplary work he has done in the county, his last station before retirement, education stakeholders along with local leadership have decided to throw a ceremony tomorrow, July 6 in Kapenguria where he will be given a befitting farewell.
Education News has learnt that the county Governor Simon Kachapin, himself a former teacher and Principal, is expected to grace the auspicious occasion accompanied by a retinue of political and administrative leaders operating within the region.
Area residents view Kimachas as their son for having served the community earlier as a teacher at a local school for several years and his return later as TSC Director evoked vivid memories of his connection with the people there.
Kimachas, who has had an illustrious career as a teacher and administrator, was born on October, 1963.
He taught at Chewoyet High in West Pokot between 1989 to 1995 and later worked as an inspector for schools in the then Keiyo District from 1995 to 2001.
The Director was later promoted to become a Staffing Officer from 2001 to 2015 in various Districts then including Kericho, Kakamega, Siaya and West Pokot.
His star continued to shine brighter as he was subsequently promoted as TSC Director. He served diligently in this capacity in Kwale, Nairobi, Narok and now West Pokot counties.
