TSC warns schools against unregistered teachers

Siaya County Teachers Service Commission has issued a stern warning to private and public schools enlisting the services of non-registered tutors in their institutions that they will face closure.
Siaya County TSC director Samuel Marigat has said that all teachers either in Public or Private schools must have a minimum qualification and be registered with the TSC for the person to be eligible to dispense duty as per the commission’s act of 2012.
The Ministry of Education and the basic education Act, dictates that the proprietors engaging in unregistered teachers risk punitive actions.
“According to the TSC act of 2012 section 23 (2), a person shall not engage in teaching service unless such a person is registered as a teacher under this Act, TSC Act 2012,” said Marigat.
He noted that all teachers must have a TSC number as a cardinal requisite even those in private schools so as to teach since all children both in private and public schools belong to Kenya, hence need certified quality services.
Speaking to Education News at his Siaya office, Marigat also warned to teachers in private schools who are fond of bad behavior noting that they must up hold good moral standards and professionalism in their trade lest they be dealt with according to the law.
