The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will launch the Teacher Induction Mentorship and Coaching (TIMEC) programme training on Monday,24th March,2025.
This one-day training session will involve five teachers from each school, with the headteacher included among the participants. Training venues will be organized at the sub-county level for primary schools and the county level for selected secondary schools.
TIMEC is a planned assistance program encouraging proactive steps to improve teachers’ performance and professional behaviour. The program’s main goal is to help instructors become more proficient and knowledgeable about the rules, legislation, and standards that govern the teaching profession.

In 2023, TSC hinted that teachers participating in the mentorship programme would be advantageous when promotion opportunities arise. Those who complete the training and attend recruitment interviews will earn additional scores.
A framework and policy have been established to guide the programme, offering several benefits and incentives for participants. Upon successful completion, teachers will receive a certificate in mentorship and coaching, which will serve as a valuable addition when pursuing promotions, leadership roles, or recognition awards.
Both mentors and mentees will be awarded certificates, and participants will gain Teacher Professional Development (TPD) points in line with the TPD policy framework and career progression guidelines.
