TSC releases guidelines for promotional interviews of school administrators

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has released the guidelines for the ongoing promotional interviews mostly targeting school administrators who will fill a total of 13,713 vacant positions the Commission advertised in January 2023.

According to the guidelines, the panel which will interview the shortlisted teachers will consist of the TSC sub-county or county directors who will chair the panel and represent the Commission Chairperson in the panel, the sub-county directors who will represent the Commission Secretary and the [staffing] director who will be represented in panel by the sub-county or county human resource officer with each panel having an Administrative Assistant.

The chairperson representative will: be in charge of the interview panel, assign questioning areas to the panelists and monitor the interview process to ensure that it is conducted in an objective and professional way in line with the advert requirements, help the panel to keep time, welcome the candidates and put them at ease,  introduce the panel and close the interview.

The Commission Secretary Representative will be the secretary to the panel and will help in taking notes of the proceedings of the interview, validate the candidates’ documents and make recommendations to the panel as appropriate and compile the interview report at the end of the exercise (in consultation with other members of the team) for submission to the Regional Director.

On the other hand, the director representative will provide support to the Chairperson and Commission secretary representatives in conducting the interviews while the administrative support officers will arrange interview rooms and interview materials, organize the candidates and their documents and notify the panels of any anomalies on the candidates’ documents.
