The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has issued the first set of teacher promotion letters, which have been distributed to TSC County Directors.
However, the commission has not published the official list of teachers who successfully secured promotions after attending the interviews conducted in January and February.
According to TSC policies, this list must be made public, but as of March 31, 2025, it has not been uploaded on the commission’s website.
Qualified teachers will receive their promotion letters, while those who were unsuccessful will be given regret letters.
The promotion interviews for post-primary school teachers took place between January 27 and February 6, 2025, covering institutions such as secondary schools and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs). Primary school teacher interviews were held from January 13 to January 23, 2025.

TSC had initially announced 25,288 promotion slots for both primary and post-primary teachers.
The first ad, from November 12 to November 18, 2024, offered 5,690 spots for school directors. On December 17, 2024, 19,943 teaching positions in occupational groups C1 through D3 were posted.
Nine thousand one hundred seventy-nine were assigned to post-primary institutions, and 16,109 were assigned to primary schools.
As seen in previous years, the promotion process attracted many applicants, emphasizing the high demand for career advancement among teachers. One hundred eighty-nine thousand teachers applied, with 96,640 from primary schools and 44,043 from post-primary institutions making it to the shortlist.
The interview panels included Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs), Human Resource Officers, and Sub-County Directors, who concentrated on document verification. Teachers had to show their identity, academic credentials, and other essential paperwork to be validated.
The TSC promotion scorecard favoured older educators, with the highest marks for teachers 55 or older. Teachers between 45 and 49 scored 22 marks, while those between 50 and 54 received 26. Candidates between 40 and 44 received 18 points, while those between 30 and 39 received 14.
