Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has re-opened the portal for more deployment of primary school teachers to teach in Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).
In the advert placed in its official social media platforms today March 8, 2023; the Commission has extended the period of application for deployment to JSS with teachers being given up to March 22, 2023 through the Commission’s online portal.
“The Commission has extended the period of application for deployment to Junior Secondary Schools. The portal has been re-opened. Primary school teachers with requisite qualifications are encouraged to apply… Deadline for application is March 22, 2023,” read the advert.
This is the second time the Commission is opening the deployment portal having done that on January 28, 2023 where a total of 10,833 Primary School Teachers requested to be deployed to JSS.
Public primary school teachers who are currently serving under permanent and pensionable terms in various schools in the country and who meet requisite qualifications set by TSC are the one being targeted for deployment.
For the teacher to be deployed to teach JSS; the teacher must have at least attained a Mean Grade of C+ (plus) at Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Further, the teacher should at least have grade C+ (plus) in two teaching subjects at KCSE or its equivalent and at least 8 units in each of the two teaching subjects.
While appearing before the parliamentary committee on education on February 14, 2023 the Commission Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Nancy Macharia told the legislators that the mapping process of primary school teachers eligible to teach in JSS is a continuous process and verification of the mapped files is still ongoing to identify more teachers eligible to be posted to JSSs.
Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) had at one point challenged TSC to consider the current qualifications a teacher has obtained instead of the grades they scored in KCSE while re-deploying primary school teachers to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).
I applied for deployment to jss first round .my application was successful but was not shrtlisted.when i re apply this second round the system indicates .you already submitted your application. Pliz reset the system for us to re apply
Will tsc deploy p1 teachers with degrees secondary option who scored division 11 in KCE but didn’t proceed to A level due to financial challenges .give direction pliz
