Talau Comprehensive School has a new administrator, Isaac Kipchoge Sitienei, who took over from Barnabas Chirchir. Speaking during the handing and taking over ceremony, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) County Director, represented by Neilson Musani, thanked Barnabas Chirchir for his selfless sacrifice to improve the general schools’ performance.

Mr.Musani acknowledged the outgoing headteacher’s notable contributions and invaluable accomplishments of the past period, stating that Talau was in step with academic excellence, planning, and structural development.

He expressed confidence that the new principal was equal to the task and had extensive experience in education administration and management.

The school’s auditor, William Chepkonga, cautioned all headteachers against financial impropriety.”This has indeed been the cause of disharmony in our learning institutions, from ECDE to university levels.”

He stated that other impediments to sound school administration were communication breakdowns, personality clashes, and power dynamics. Such matters significantly exacerbate existing issues, creating tensions and mistrust.

He added that financial impropriety leads to loss of trust, increased conflict, reduced morale, ineffectiveness and legal issues.

Chepkonga asked all headteachers to improve learners’ performance through prudent financial management to avoid embarrassment.

On his side, Barnabas Chirchir thanked the Teachers Service Commission for giving him an opportunity to serve for 38 years as a teacher and administrator in several schools.

He stated that he had succeeded in his work because he had a very dedicated staff, Board of Management, and parents. He also stated that it’s not easy to work until retirement since the profession has many obstacles that demand patience and dedication.

The new administrator took over the school leadership, familiarising himself with the school’s policies, programmes, and staff to prevent gaps in the institution’s general administration.
