Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has urged its field officers to utilize their annual leave days within the calendar year to avoid it being carried forward to the next calendar year.

This is after it emerged that most field officers have pending leave days with the Commission recognizing that despite there being several activities running across the year, the officers have been asked to ensure that they strike a work-life balance.

The Commission has also reminded its officers that their leave days should be utilized within the calendar year and that no more than 15 days can be brought forward to the next calendar year, and that anything exceeding 15 days will not be carried forward as stipulated in Section 57 of the Human Resource Policies and Procedures Manual for Secretariat Staff, 2018.

In one of the Communiqué, TSC Nyanza Regional Director Jane Njage in an internal memo dated September 1, 2023, has directed all TSC County Directors to develop a leave schedule for all officers in their jurisdiction and submit the schedule of County Directors and Sub County Directors September 6, 2023, for onward transmission to the TSC Director operations, Gabriel Mathenge.

“You are expected to remember that we shall have National Examinations for candidates as we prepare the program where officers will be required to superintend,” directed Njage in the memo.
