TSC explains delay in payments of JSS teachers

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC)  has revealed that half of the 35, 550 Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers posted to different schools countrywide in February and March are yet to receive their salaries as only the other half had received their salaries in full.

The Commission, in a statement, cited the delay in reporting of teachers in their respective institutions as the reason why there has been a delay in the processing of their salaries.

“As is a procedure, the recruits are given 30 days within which to report to their various stations, which leads to some commencing their work later than others,

“This sometimes causes delays in the processing of their salaries. So far, the Commission has processed over 50 percent of the salaries of the newly employed teachers,” TSC stated.

At the same time, TSC has directed the teachers who had been paid to confirm receipt of their salaries through their respective banks as it also issued an apology for the delay assuring the teachers that they would get their salaries by May 2023.
