With resumption of games, Teachers Service Commissioner (TSC) Makueni County Director Alex Cheruiyot has called upon teachers to help nurture students’ talents.

Cheruiyot who launched the just concluded Makueni County Level ball games and Music Festivals which were held at Makueni boys, Wote technical and Makindu said he is happy since the teams which proceeded to Regionals performed better and some of them were heading to the Nationals.

“I am hopeful that they will proceed to the East African level. We have strong teams in Makueni which are very talented. I want to personally thank teachers for taking it upon themselves to train the teams vigorously despite the short notice,” he added.

The Director noted that sports help learners to decompress psychologically thus reducing tension. He encouraged them to continue practicing even after completion of the games season.

However he noted that they were done with School Based Teacher Support System (SBTSS) where a total of 167 Principals and 392 Head teachers were trained two weeks ago.

The training which took four days was held at Makueni Boys secondary school. It sampled teachers from five Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQIP) sub counties in Makueni county.

Cheruiyot said the SBTSS majorly focused on assisting teachers to improve their pedagogical and content knowledge.
