A Teachers Service Commission (TSC) commissioner has pledged to hold talks with the Diocese of Maseno South’s head, Reverend Charles Onginjo, in an effort to resolve the standoff surrounding the appointment of a new principal to Kisumu Day High School.

Commissioner Timon Oyucho said he had seen concerns raised by the cleric in two separate correspondences and promised to have a dialogue with the senior clergy as soon as possible.

Onginjo had earlier written two hard-hitting letters, one addressed to Oyucho and another to the secretary of the TSC, claiming undue interference from the commissioner in the postings of school heads in Kisumu County.

He claimed that Oyucho is keen on planting his henchmen at strategic learning institutions ahead of the 2027 general elections, as he harbours political ambitions.

A new principal has been posted to Kisumu Day High School amidst protests from the church sponsor.

Rabet Abidha took over from Daniel Mwaturo, who is proceeding on retirement.

But Onginjo said they will not allow the new principal to take over the management of the learning institution.

The cleric stated that they had submitted their proposals to the TSC regarding the matter.

The cleric wondered why the handing-over ceremony was done at night without the presence of the school Board of Management.

He said the learning institution had, for the last eight years, when Mwaturo was there, been run down.

In other changes, Gordon Muga, formerly of Tiengre, has been posted to Onjiko High School while Ogosa of Sango Buru Secondary School has also taken over at Kudho Secondary School.

Meanwhile, secondary school heads from Kisumu County have called for a smooth transition in all learning institutions.

Through Chairman George Opiyo, the heads said that all issues should be resolved amicably.
