TSC boss urges Directors and school heads to treat teachers with dignity

By Peter Otuoro

Rift Valley Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Regional Director Adow Bardad has urged school heads in the region to treat teachers with dignity while on duty.

Speaking during the Nandi County Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Conference held at Kunste hotel in Nakuru County, he said that teachers were humans whose welfare should be considered so as to produce good results in academics and children development.

He said that in case teachers make minor mistakes, school heads should take their time and correct them wisely to enable a conducive teaching environment.

“Teachers are human beings. You should take your time and correct them where you think they have not performed competently so that they can improve their performance,” he added.

Bardad reiterated the same to the county’s 14 Directors saying they should take time and listen to teachers’ problems and brainstorm on appropriate actions to solve the problem at hand.

“County Directors should ensure they handle teachers’ matters in a sense that leads towards inculcation of their trust in the Commission,” he said.

The Director further urged school heads to enhance peaceful relationships with other leaders in areas outside education.

He also encouraged them to maintain peaceful co-existence with students, teachers and heads of other institutions to ensure all school programmes run smoothly towards the common goal of academic excellence.

“We encourage our leaders from various levels to work with our heads of institutions to ensure our students provide good results  in their examinations,” Bardad concluded.

In attendance were Nandi TSC County Director Regina Opondo, Nandi KESSHA Chair Elyas Cheruiyot and Nandi County secondary schools heads.

  1. I wish there was a private box to report these mistreatments meted on teachers. The abuse they suffer in the hands of the school heads is unbelievable.
