The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has launched the verification of documents for 3,693 primary school teachers who have applied to be deployed to Junior Secondary Schools. This move aims to ensure that only qualified and competent teachers are assigned to learners under the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

According to the Commission, all Sub-County Directors have been furnished with the official lists of applicants and instructed to initiate a thorough vetting process.

To qualify for deployment, the Commission emphasised that candidates must be duly registered teachers with the TSC and must be actively employed as primary school teachers. Importantly, they should not be under interdiction or any disciplinary process at the time of application.

Candidates who scored a C plain at KCSE but went on to pursue both a Diploma and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education will also be considered. However, those holding a Bachelor of Education degree in the Primary Option will not qualify.

Only teachers who had expressed interest in the deployment and whose names appear on the verified lists from the TSC Headquarters will be vetted.

The Commission also outlined a rigorous document verification process. Sub-County Directors are expected to invite the listed candidates to present themselves.

The candidates must attend with original and copies of degree or diploma certificate, official academic transcripts, SNE qualification (where applicable), KCSE certificate (or its equivalent); a copy of the current payslip; and a declaration by the Head of Institution that the teacher is currently serving in the school and is neither serving an interdiction nor undergoing a disciplinary process.

Additionally, each teacher must provide a signed declaration from their Head of Institution confirming that they are actively teaching in the school and are not undergoing any disciplinary proceedings.
