TSC set to pay higher salaries for newly promoted teachers next month

Nancy Macharia, TSC CEO. The commission has begun updating the payroll for teachers who were recently promoted to reflect the higher salaries in new status.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has today May 7, 2024, began the process of preparing the payroll for the recently promoted 36,504 teachers, which will see their salaries increased after being moved from one grade to another.

The commission targets to complete the process of updating the promotion of the teachers in its payroll by June 15, 2024; with a total of 2,500 files being worked on daily.

In an internal memo dated today signed by the acting director in charge of Human Resource Management and Development, one M.A. Sango, all the unit heads have been instructed to ensure they have at least captured 75 per cent of cases due by end of May.

“Given the strict timelines, there is need to fast-track the increase of promotion IPPD Authorized Data Caprure Sheets. This will enable us promote at least 75 per cent of the cases due by closure of May 2024 payroll,” reads the memo in part.

“Each officer will be required to modify at least fifty (50) IPPD Authorized Data Capture Sheets per day. The unit heads are encouraged to identify an additional Data Capture in order to cope with the number of cases modified per day,” added the memo.

The commission disclosed that 80 per cent of the promoted teachers through Advert No. 46/2023 to 69/2023 to various grades ranging from C2 to D5 were retained in their current stations.

“It is important to note that all the promotions have to be effected on the payroll on or before June 15, 2024,” reads the memo further.
