TSC accused of neglecting teachers’ grievances

By Tony Wafula

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has been blamed for failing to listen to the concerns of teachers especially Principals seeking transfer citing genuine reasons.

Addressing mourners during the burial of St. Bridgit Kitayi
High School Principal Brenda Mamati, Bungoma County Public Administration County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Sabwami Keya who at one point served as a Principal said many principals have been reported to have died due to pressure and stress at work.

He called upon the commission to be considerate to the teachers’
issues so as not to lose many colleagues in the profession.

“Teachers Service Commission should give teachers time to explain
their grievances instead of neglecting them, Bungoma has lost a good
number of Principal’s due to the Covid-19, let the TSC give
principal’s ample time as they prepare for January reopening,’’
he noted.

On the other hand, Bungoma branch KUPPET Executive Secretary Augustine Luketelo lashed Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa for allegedly inciting parents not to pay the fee.

The unionist, however, urged Kimilili MP to concentrate on his job and leave school matters to be solved by those in charge.
