Treat children living with disability as normal, Kisii County MP tells parents

Kisii County Woman Representative Doris Aburi has urged parents to give children living with disability equal treatment as those who are well.

She said that loving and supporting them to acquire education will raise their self-esteem.

“These children have a lot of mental ability which can help them if they are taken to school, provided with necessary learning materials, and nurtured well,” she said.

Addressing the public at her Kisii office, Aburi said children with disability should not be discriminated against. She donated more than 200 wheel chairs to aid in the easy movement of people living with disability (PLWD).

She said there are many needy people than her office alone can provide for and asked other well-wishers to chip in and help, saying the beneficiaries are the lucky ones she meets during her constituency tours.

She highlighted other projects that her office has undertaken, including drilling one borehole in each sub-county and provision of water tanks for storage.
