Ena Coach Transport Company has donated food, bedding and clothes worth Ksh 3 million to orphaned children from 21 orphanages in Kisii county.

Addressing the guardians and children during their annual meeting, the company CEO Richard Mogeni urged the community to care for orphaned children by supporting them and the homes they live in to help them grow and develop like their peers.

He asked caretakers in the homes to provide education to the children to acquire knowledge and skills that will enable them fit in the society.

Mogeni disclosed that his company started by serving two orphanages but later saw the need to extend their scope of service to more than 20 orphanages this year and further called on partners to join them to assist orphans countrywide.

The annual fete held at Gusii stadium was attended by Jared Mokua, one of the Community Services Directors in the county who said that the county government will support such companies for the community’s social development.

“Our government will work with such partners to help the poor especially the orphaned and street children,” he said.

The county Orphanage Caretakers chairperson Pastor Abel Onchari noted that there are 23 official orphanages in the county and decried the increasing number of street children in the region and called for an urgent intervention through consolidated effort.

Elsewhere, Rotary Clubs Kisii branch chairperson Mrs. Isabellah Lumumba has urged the community to ensure children with disability access education.
