Trans Nzoia declared overall champions of Rift Valley in primary school games

Trans Nzoia County has been feted as the overall champions in the just concluded Rift Valley Primary Schools Sports Association (RVPSSA)  extravaganza.

This is after showcasing their prowess by winning Handball Girls, Netball Girls Primary, and Soccer Girls Primary, among other disciplines where the county seized crucial positions against the 14 participating counties.

The colourful event, which was marked with pomp and magnificence, saw Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties battle in the volleyball  finals where the Uasin Gishu girls proved their skills to win the JSS and Primary categories.

The volleyball boys primary saw Nandi defeat their archrivals Uasin Gishu while JSS category saw Turkana County overpowered by defending champions Nandi County in the final watched by hundreds of fans.

Turkana County’s Kanamkemer JSS managed to beat West Pokot 2-1  to win this year’s soccer contest while Trans Nzoia edged out Nandi County 1-0 to represent the region in the nationals in Kakamega.

Kericho JSS team lifted the netball trophy after beating the high flying Trans Nzoia who later overpowered Nandi to win the primary title.

The city of champions Uasin Gishu conquered Nakuru County in basketball.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Rift Valley Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association (KEPSHA) Chairman Dr Patrick Joseph hailed the participating counties for showcasing an array of talent and challenged them to continue nurturing it.

RVPSSA Chairman Peter Sang lauded the 14 counties for preparing their teams well for the regional tournament and exuded confidence they will win in Kakamega.
